Last Term Break Celebration - Post Effect

I still can't believe I ate 11 oysters.

The "last term break celebration" at Kohya, a Japanese BBQ restaurant in Chinatown, serves buffet. I don't know why I ended up having the Deluxe Buffet (90 mins buffet with dishes including sashimi, oysters, seafood & beef BBQ).

There was beef sashimi like Yukke and some served together with sashimi to go with wasabe and sohyu. Very exotic! The servings were really aussie size. I hardly see sashimi sliced that thick in Singapore. And the oysters... who will ever thought that 1 serving of oysters consists of 12 oysters??

... then I began my usual post buffet phenomenon. Spending time in their ladies...

... I can still feel my upset stomach...

... might be a good way to "detox"...

Crabbing ... again

Crabbing. Went to Redcliffe just to catch some crab. It was fun though we only caught two mud crabs within 8 hours.

But KFC at Redcliffe was tasteless. So was the Custard Tart. We believed residents of Redcliffe are health conscious beings. In contrast, the BBQ food they prepared was too salty. The only tasty stuff for the night was the Baskin Robbin's bucket of ice cream. Yummy.

Crab Crap

I had chilli crab today. It was the first time I ever had chilli crab in Australia. In fact, I last had chilli crab more than 5 years ago... perhaps 10 years ago. Haha. I am not a seafood person!

They tried to hide the crab from me during lunch at Hanji (the only 'edible' HK roast meat restaurant in Brisbane) with their code names. Pretty fishy and I suspect that they are making fun of me. I did feel disappointed being left out from the secrets. While doing groceries shopping at Toowang, they called and laughed out loud on the phone, telling me I am invited to the dinner.

They paid AUD100 +++ for 3 crabs. Seafood is really expensive in Brisbane and something that I can't afford.

And.. we are continuing the crab crap this saturday. A day trip to Redcliff to catch some crabs while playing Mahjong outdoor. Hahaha..

This is my favourite ...

憑吊

I lost one of my maternal aunt today. She was admitted a few days ago and did not survive the kidney failure and heart complication. Life is too short and harsh for her. She was only 52, leaving two young children behind.

14 years ago. I saw her in her wedding gown. She married in her late 30s. Before her marriage, she was a carefree (financially) lady who took great care of my grandma. Then she was pregnant. She used to come over my place after her checkup and then took a bus home to her Ghim moh 1-room rented flat. I always wonder she ever felt blissful. Life was just hardship after the marriage. She never had the extra money for herself and all she thought of was the family. And her husband kept her at home, never allowed her to work.

When her kidney failed a year ago, she couldn't afford for the dialysis and consulted chinese physician instead. It was only today that I realised she had been washing dishes for Hawker. Sunday night, she passed out while working and was admitted to hospital. Resuscitation failed and she departed this afternoon.

I have not seen her for two years. And I was pretty rude to her on the phone , constantly complaining about receiving her calls. Now, I just hope to hear from her...

Recollection on Gloomy Friday - Brisbane 2006

A gloomy friday.

I am gonna miss the weather here. Four seasons. Life with four seasons is so different. You live with hope in Spring. Vibrant and brilliant life in Summer. Strolling in the park, watching the autumn leaves falling in Autumn, feeling lonely and misses loved ones. In winter, nothing comes into your mind, other than keeping yourself warm. Living your life in the pace of four seasons.

It is coming towards the end of two years and I felt strongly that I would miss 2006. After the mahjong game last night, while we were in the car heading to St Lucia where my place is, the four of us came to agree it is an unforgettable year.

Though uni life is hectic, I enjoy 2006. I enjoyed digging Connosieur Vanilla ice cream while working on Transport Phenomena Assignments at 77 Warren Street (Yifan's place)...the midnight supper at Manors, Logan, on my birthday and every other busy nights... surprise birthday cake.... those sleepless night typing ERA reports at Daphne's place while munching on Doritas Nacho Chips, Starburst, and black coffees... Fifa World Cup at Milton's La Dolce Vita and Melvin's place (when we had my first Steamboat at 2 am) ... Mahjongs with Yifan, Juliana, Yingying, Shenton, Stanley, Melvin (Thanks Juliana for her kind patience)... Endless birthday gatherings... Ekka... Celebrations after each DP (at Treasury Casino and Daphne's place...)...

Life is fun.
